My Marks Don't Line Up With My Camera Footage

Clips from camera footage landing in the wrong place — how to fix the sync.

> This applies to older games only. ClipPin films with your phone or > tablet now — the separate-camera workflows were retired on 2026-08-05. > Games you already filmed that way keep every option below. New games > won't show them, because the footage is already on your device. See > I Used to Film With a Camera.

First work out which of these two you have. The fix is different.

Every clip in a period is off by the same amount

The sync point is wrong — ClipPin didn't find the tone, or found the wrong spot.

Fix it by ear. In Make Clips, tap the period showing "Chirp not found", scrub until you hear the short beep near the start, and tap The chirp is here. Every clip in that period corrects at once.

Why it happened: the camera didn't clearly hear the tone. Common causes — the camera started rolling after the period began, the phone's speaker faced away from the camera microphone, wind or a loud crowd, or the camera's audio was off.

Next game: roll the camera first, start the period second, and point the phone's speaker at the camera.

Clips feel slightly late (or early), every period

That's not sync — that's reaction time. There's a gap between the play happening and your thumb landing.

Open the game's buttons, tap the button in question, and under Timing adjust:

  • Reaction lag — raise it if clips consistently start too late.
  • Pre-roll — how much before your tap is included. Raise it for plays with a long build-up.

Each button is tuned separately, so a goal can keep more run-up than a save.

Wrong footage matched entirely

Use Re-match a different card to start over, or Add from Photos instead to pick a period's file by hand.
